Gdanska Shipyard sale

The European Commission asked the Polish anti-monopoly authorities UOKiK who the potential investors of Gdanska Shipyard (GS). Although up to seven organisations are claimed to be interested, only two companies submitted preliminary offers. These are the Norwegian Aker Yards and Italian LLoyd Sicilia. The Italian company ordered ships in Porta Holding but failed to buy two of them.

SG is reportedly not interested in these two investors and would rather be acquired by state-owned companies. “We want the shipyard to be restructured by a Polish investor for 2-3 years. There are three entities which we would welcome: Energa, The Agency of Industrial Development (ARP) and the Corporation of Polish Shipyards (KPS)”, Andrzej Jaworski, the temporary SG CEO said.
