GE signs contract for new vessels

The Singapore unit Greatship (India) Ltd, a subsidiary of Mumbai-based Great Eastern Shipping Co (GE), had signed a contract for two new multi-purpose platform supply and support vessels.

The contract has been signed between Greatship Global Offshore Services Pte Ltd, Singapore and the Indian shipbuilder Mazagaon Dock Ltd. These 4,600 dwt vessels are expected to join the company’s fleet in the second half of the year to March 2010 and the company claims they are larger and technologically more advanced than any PSV currently operational in Indian. Greatship (India) and its subsidiaries now have a building order book of 16 OSVs and one jack-up rig.
