Gibdock and Armada Technologies join forces for PALS
The collaboration will see the two companies combining their expertise to develop more energy-efficient solutions for vessels. Armada Technologies, renowned for its cutting-edge PALS system—which significantly lowers fuel consumption and operational costs—will work closely with Gibdock to assess both the technical feasibility and business potential of installing the system on vessels undergoing maintenance and repair at the shipyard.
Under the MoU, Gibdock and Armada will jointly explore the application of PALS on vessels, with Armada providing both technical and commercial support to ensure successful integration. PALS, which operates under license from Armada, is designed to reduce friction between the ship’s hull and the water, leading to substantial fuel savings and lower emissions.
Simon Gillett, CEO of Balaena, Gibdock’s parent company, commented: “This agreement is a major milestone in our commitment to promoting sustainable shipping practices. We are thrilled to work alongside Armada Technologies in bringing innovative, energy-efficient solutions to our clients.”
Alex Routledge, CEO of Armada Technologies, added: “Our second-generation PALS has the potential to revolutionise vessel operations by making them more environmentally friendly and cost-effective. We are excited to collaborate with Gibdock to bring this transformative technology to more ships.”
