GL backs Ms Logistik Systeme

Importer

Germanischer Lloyd (GL) has bought a stake of 75% in Ms Logistik Systeme (MLS), a Rostock software company which plans, develops and markets program modules for highly efficient vessel management.

Employing 14 employees, MLS has been involved in the development, marketing and support of “SAMS” (Ship Administration Management System), a vessel management suite consisting of a number of modules. More than 200 vessels in service all over the world profit from SAMS, and the number is increasing monthly.

The SAMS Port Clearance Module is the newest module in the portfolio; it decisively reduces the time needed to prepare port documents, while guaranteeing their quality and accuracy and saving a great deal of time and effort on board.

With the takeover of this Rostock-based company, GL has extended its range of electronic products and services such as “fleet online” and “globe”.

The extensive software products of MLS will ensure that coordination of the information regarding the survey schedule (also inspections important for the class of the vessel) with the requirements of an exact maintenance timetable on board can be optimized to the highest possible degree.
