Golar to provide Dubai with FSRU
Norwegian gas shipper Golar LNG has won a contract worth about $450 million to provide a floating gas storage and regasification unit to Dubai on a 10-year charter. The contract with Dubai Supply Authority includes options to extend for up to a further five years, Golar LNG said. The contract value excludes the option period.
Golar LNG said it would convert its 126,000 m3 1977 built LNG carrier ?Golar Freeze? into a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) and place it on charter in Dubai in the second quarter of 2010. “The contract with Dubai represents Golar’s fourth FSRU-related project commitment since announcing plans to build the world?s first FSRU in January 2006,” Golar LNG said.
