Goltens works on flood damage
Extensive work was needed after the vessel had been towed from Oman to UAE, and includes complete overhaul of the main engines under OEM directions and overhauling of most of the engine room machinery while alongside in Jebel Ali Port.
Goltens says this project is typical of the work it undertakes, involving specialist mechanical and electrical disciplines for the overhauling of various engine room components. While on-board work is progressing in terms of dismantling and reinstatement of equipment, the workshop is busy performing overhauling of engine components to include 30 electric motors, 40 pumps, gear box, thruster motor, as well as a complete set of engine components for the MaK 12M43C main engine. By the beginning of March 2012, the engine room equipment was expected to have been totally dismantled, thoroughly inspected and approved by the manufacturer for re-installation and the ship’s return to operation.
