Hanjin deploys world?s fastest boxships

Hanjin Shipping has entered into service the 6,655TEU ?Hanjin Bremerhaven?, the world’s fastest containership, on its Asia-Europe trade.

Built by Hyundai Heavy Industries in Korea, the 304 metre long newbuilding is the first of the company’s series of eight 58,000 dwt-class newbuildings. With a 68,332 kW main engine, the vessel will achieve a speed of 27 knots, one knot higher than that of recently-built 9,000 to 10,000TEU vessels.

Hanjin will deploy a total of eight super-high speed owned vessels, including ?Hanjin Bremerhaven?, on its main services by early 2008.
