Hanjin hiring local labour for shipbuilding

Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction Co., Ltd. (Hanjin) is currently recruiting at least 20,000 Filipino workers for its new shipbuilding and ship repair yard in Subic, Philippines. Hanjin is investing some $2 billion on the new facility.

The first batch of 700 applicants have already been interviewed at the provincial capitol and 650 of them passed and are now undergoing training at Hanjin at the Subic Bay Industrial Park within the Subic Freeport. Hanjin has already reached an agreement with various countries for ship repair services while it has also firmed up agreements with Germany, France, India and Turkey for eight container ships and other ship building projects costing about $2 billion.
