The equipment will be delivered between mid-2012 and the end of 2013. The orders include an option for the delivery of MacGregor solutions for a further 10 ships.

“Hatch covers and lashing systems are an integral part of a container vessel’s cargo-handling ability,” says, Tommi Keskilohko, sales manager for container ships. “Cargotec’s early involvement in the project enabled it to design the most efficient and safe cargo handling solution possible. Also, as a result of our cargo system design expertise, we can maximise the ship’s overall efficiency and profitability. Furthermore, Cargotec is the only company who can deliver the whole cargo equipment package. This provides the shipyard with one accountable partner, allowing it to concentrate on its core business.”.

Cargotec has also confirmed a contract worth over €20 million to deliver 80 MacGregor cranes for 20 open hatch bulk carriers from STX Marine Service in Busan. 10 vessels will be built at STX Dalian shipyard in China, and the other 10 vessels at STX Offshore & Shipbuilding’s Jinhae shipyard in South Korea.
