Havila converts Reel

Norwegian offshore operator Havila Supply is converting supply vessel Havila Reel into a cable layer for charter to the Alcatel group.

The vessel, which was built to the UT705 design and subsequently lengthened to 90.82m loa, docked at Norway?s Myklebust shipyard for classification work. It then moved to the Kleven shipyard where a new accommodation module is being installed. Kleven is also fitting cable tank foundations and a new deck crane, and installing a new Alstom dynamic positioning system linked to the vessel?s existing thruster package. Alcatel will install the cable tank and cable handling gear.
