High performance analyser for diesel engines

IMES GmbH’s EPM-XP plus, is a user-friendly engine analyser for 2 and 4-stroke diesel engines and is a further development of IMES’ successful electronic indicator EPM-XP.

The engine analyser has been given a higher battery capacity for more than 20 operating hours. Furthermore, it is also possible to take continuous online measurements on indicator cocks by connecting the device via USB / Ethernet to a PC (maximum distance 50m).

Direct transfer

Acquired data can be directly transferred to the visualisation software for monitoring. The visualisation software displays cylinder pressure sequences and the stored measurement data can be used for offline analysis to identify abnormal combustion behaviour.

An extensive evaluation of engine performance data and important combustion parameters can be directly transferred to the IMES expert software, helping to achieve increased engine optimisation, less fuel consumption, reduced maintenance and decreased NOX and CO2 emissions.

The option to connect a vibro sensor to the EPM-XP plus for definition of fuel injection timing and valves timing is under development.

The old features of the EPM-XP have been kept. It is still a portable data acquisition unit including a calibrated HTT sensor.

The main functions such as TDC correction, automatic Pcomp calculation, IPOWER and IMEP calculation as well as trending function are still available.

IMES will demo the new EPM-XP plus in hall A2 stand A237 at SMM 2018.
