High speed unit meets EPA Tier 4

The engine is said to be suited to mechanical and diesel electric main power installations as well as auxiliary applications. In addition to EPA Tier 4 certifiation, the 3516C is IMO II certified and IMO III compliant. The Tier 4 certified engine is available in ratings of 2,240KW and 2,350KW for mechanical propulsion, with 2,250kW ratings for the diesels electric and auxiliary versions, all ratings at 1,800rpm.

Tier 4 emissions levels have been achieved through the use of SCR after-treatment combined in-engine optimisation to achieve low NOx levels. The Tier 4 certified engines employ the Cat Clean Emissions module which is designed to offer SCR at low cost of ownership and operation. It is claimed to be the most compact and efficient SCR system on the market, with the Tier 4 version achieving a similar engine footprint to EPA Tier 2 and Tier 3 engines.
