Higher power MaK

The new M 32 E is based on the M 32 C platform, with the same footprint, but uses pistons and other components from the V-format M32C. It features a power rating of 550kW/cylinder at 720 and 750rpm. The M 32 E, which is scheduled for delivery in late 2014, will be available in four to nine-cylinder in-line configurations.

The engine features a stroke of 460mm has the same lube oil consumption and maintenance intervals as the M 32 C series. It is EPA Tier 2 and IMO II compliant.

The company says that the M 32 E is suited to the offshore market in diesel electric and auxiliary applications with multi-engine concepts, and can drive variable speed diesel-electric in integrated systems with the Cat high speed engines in mixed engine rooms.

“We’re pleased to offer our customers a more powerful yet still proven MaK engine solution,” said Carsten Seeburg, MaK product definition manager. “We were able to transfer many of the notable product attributes of the M 32 C, such as durability and simplicity, to the new platform and provide customers with an additional solution for their commercial applications.”
