Holeby diesel electric power package for Chinese patrol vessel

MAN B&W Diesel in Holeby, Denmark, has been awarded the contract to supply three 9L21/31 Holeby medium speed diesel gensets as main power source for a new 3,000 dwt patrol vessel newbuilding under construction for the China State Oceanic Administration in Beijing. The vessel will also be equipped with a 6L16/24 harbour genset, which can operate in parallel with the main gensets. The main engines will be linked to ABB type AMG 560 L6 alternators driving two azimuthing thrusters, which will be speed controlled via an ABB-supplied DTC frequency converter system. A total main engine output of 5,635kW will supply the power for the ship?s hotel load and give a maximum speed of 18 knots and a service speed of 15 knots.

Currently under construction at the Jiangnan Shipyard in Shanghai, the 91 metre long newbuilding was designed by MIRAC and is scheduled for delivery towards the end of 2004.
