Hyundai Samho and Mipo near its new order target this year
Hyundai Samho Shipyard in South Korea has reportedly clinched 19 ships valued at $1.24 billion to date this year. The orders consist of four 8,200TEU container ships, four 5,000 to 6,000TEU class box ships, four 320,000DWT VLCCs and seven 160,000DWT tankers. Samho shipyard has set itself a target of 24 ships worth $1.32 billion this year, a target it has nearly achieved within the first two months of the year.
Hyundai Mipo Dockyard meanwhile, has clinched 36 ships including four options with a total value of $1.2 billion. The shipyard plans to win orders totaling $1.7 billion during the course of this year and has a backlog of 130 ships on its orderbook.
