Hyundai-Vinashin launches first ship

Hyundai-Vinashin Shipyard in Vietnam, a joint venture between Hyundai Mipo Dockyard of South Korea and Vietnam’s state-owned shipbuilding group Vinashin, has launched its first bulk carrier. The joint stock company floated a 56,000 DWT bulker ?E.R. Bergamo’ on 31 March.

This vessel is the first of the 10 bulk carrier series ordered by Germany’s E.R. Schiffahrt last year at Hyundai-Vinashin. The E.R. Bergamo, said to cost $47m, will be delivered to the shipowner around 15 July.

Hyundai Mipo Dockyard has a 70% stake in Hyundai-Vinashin Shipyard.
