IHC rents Alblas yard

Importer

IHC Holland Merwede is renting the former Dutch shipbuilder Alblas Scheepsbouw B.V. in Hendrik Ido Ambacht. The deal includes bringing the employees of the Alblas yard in the employment of IHC Holland Dredgers in Kinderdijk although they will remain at Hendrik Ido Ambacht.

IHC-Alblas will undertake the construction of ship blocks for the IHC yards and, in due course, may reactivate its 90 metre slipway for newbuildings. At the moment, the yard is building a mid-ship section for the compatriot shipbuilder De Volharding. IHC will also rent the 110 metre outfitting quay.

IHC sees the addition of this facility as an expansion of its building capacity in Netherland. The IHC goup has four other covered slipways in Nederland, i.e. Kinderdijk, Hardinxveld-Giessendam, Krimpen aan den IJssel and Sliedrecht.
