Incat into the US

Incat`s recently sealed joint venture with Bollinger Shipyards is primarily focused on the US military market, but the company sees strong commercial potential too. “As the military craft design is based on its commercial counterpart it is reasonable to expect added interest from the commercial market,” explains Robert Clifford, chairman of Incat. “The North American market is of course no stranger to wave piercing vessels from Australia ,with the Canadian-based Bay Ferries The Cat (046) proving to be a major success between Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and Bar Harbor (Maine USA).” Clifford explains the Bollinger/Incat USA Strategic Alliance will extract advantages from Bollinger`s extensive military experience and Incat`s expertise in high-speed vehicle-carrying craft. He adds there have been several exchange yard visits over the past year between Incat and Bollinger personnel, and these would continue for some time yet. “However, even when the vessels are built in the US there will continue to be Tasmanian input with components, design and other technical areas in order to take maximum advantage of the specialised skills and knowledge within the alliance.”
