India to select shipbuilding yard sites

With the global shipbuilding sector experiencing an unprecedented boom, the Central government in India has decided to build two world-class shipbuilding yards, one on the west coast and the other on the east coast. For this, the Union Shipping Ministry has appointed a high-level committee of top officials to search for a suitable site for the proposed Rs 2,000-crore yard on the west coast by visiting Kandla and Mundra.
