The FORAN system is making great strides in Asia

According to the agreement, Navgathi has acquired the FORAN license specifically for hull form generation, decks, bulkheads, general arrangement and naval architecture calculations.

Navgathi’s work ncludes design, production and assembly for newbuilds, conversions and rebuilds – also engineering design solutions for marine structures.

FORAN is an integrated computer system specifically developed for the design, production and engineering of ships. The system has been in India for many years and SENER sees this new contract as a reflection of the great strides the product is making in Asia.

It comprises several main packages (hull forms definition, naval architecture, hull structure, outfitting, electrical), a number of common modules (build strategy, drafting, walk-through design review, collaborative engineering), links with production equipment (cutting machines, bending machines, robotic systems, etc.), interfaces to management systems and its own integrated development environment.

Running on Windows workstations connected through LAN or WAN, FORAN permits a fully interactive and concurrent definition of the ship 3D product model.

The current user base of the FORAN system consists of over 150 shipyards and design offices located in 30 countries globally.
