Innovative THD solution offers efficiency savings

Marine HVAC Design has introduced the mineral-based solution to the marine market. The HVACON Force solution is a patented marinised version of an existing East Asian electromagnetic power enhancement system. The Korean version has been successfully operating since 2008 in land-based installations.

The solution is tourmaline-based and makes uses of the mineral’s inherent piezo and pyro electric qualities to minimise resistance and improve current flow in electrical networks aboard a vessel. The system features hybrid minerals that produce electromagnetic waves. These waves operate at the emission subtle current layer. By producing surplus negative electrons, the density of free electrons is increased. The solution has the effect of reducing THD by 30%, and also reduces impedance, reactance and total low/high frequency.

In addition to minimising harmonic distortions, which offers benefits in terms of reduced maintenance and availability, the product offers savings of up to 15% on electrical consumption.

The heat generated by electrical and electronic consumers is also reduced by up to 30%, with consequences for cooling requirements.

The product offers cumulative efficiency savings of up to 20-25% on fuel and electricity consumption for cruise vessels, when added to HVAC’s energy optimisation product, which applies energy efficiency controls to the hotel load aboard cruise vessels.

However, the product has also attracted interest from deep-sea shipping operators. The HVACON Force product has been installed on over 40 bulk carriers since its launch.
