Island Offshore OSV contract

The hull for the new vessel will be built at Vard Braila in Romania and the completed vessel is scheduled for delivery from Vard Brevik in Norway during the first quarter of 2016.

Meanwhile, Rolls-Royce has won the £7m order to provide design, integrated power and propulsion systems and equipment for the vessel. It said that the vessel will encompass an integrated power and propulsion system incorporating main engines, reduction gears, controllable pitch propellers, bow and stern thrusters, steering gears, deck machinery, dry bulk system and an automation and control system.

The relationship between Vard, Rolls-Royce and Island Offshore is a long-standing one.

Vard said that it has delivered more than 30 vessels to Island Offshore in the past, in addition to five vessels which are currently under construction. It’s also due to deliver a larger vessel being built for Island Offshore at Vard Tulcea in Romania, for completion at Vard Brevik in Norway. Delivery is scheduled for the second quarter of 2016.

For Rolls-Royce, it’s the fifth this year for the operator. In March this year island Offshore placed an order for two Rolls-Royce designed vessels due for delivery in 2015, also to be delivered from Vard Brevik in Norway.

The Island Offshore Group currently manages a fleet of more than 30 vessels with an average age of less than four years, operating in Brazil, West Africa, the Gulf of Mexico and in the North Sea.
