Offshore shipping and shipbuilding group Jaya Holdings plans to expand its shipyards in Indonesia and China to take advantage of the perceived continuing strong demand in the offshore shipping sector. The group intends to expand its Batam shipyard over the next two years to accommodate 10 building berths, as well as to grow the capacity of its recently-acquired Qidong shipyard in China. When the expansion is complete, Jaya’s total capacity will double to 391,000m2 with a total shoreline of 1,250 metres. Jaya also owns a shipyard in Singapore and the company’s shipbuilding division posted a 41% hike in revenue to S$59.1 million ($42.9 million) during the third quarter.
