Jotun develops smart primer
Jotun, the Norwegian paint manufacturer, has developed an epoxy primer designed for real life use on small maintenance areas. This unique primer, called Jotamastic Smart Pack, is designed specifically for use with brushes and rollers.
Most epoxy primers can be used with brush and rollers, but with varying results, and expected lifetime out of a two-coat application can be as little as just a few months.
Jotun claims their new product solves this problem by having special flow characteristics that allow the paint to provide an even thick paint film. Other epoxy primers tend to dry leaving brush strokes in the film. If brush strokes remain, the low areas on the uneven paint film will blister and begin to breakdown, leading to premature corrosion. Often epoxy primers are thinned to remove the brush stroke affect; however this just leads to an even but thin film which will breakdown earlier than normally desired.
Since Jotamastic is designed for small usage areas, it comes in convenient small packaging it has a simple mixing ratio of one to one, making it easy to use in practice, only the amount needed for the job need be made up at any time. This reduces the usual waste that making up a full pack can incur, thereby saving money.
