Kawasaki SB delivers Clipper Sky

Kawasaki Shipbuilding in Japan delivered a 59,200 cub m LPG carrier and is the last in a five-ship series ordered by the Norwegian shipping companies Bergesen D. Y. and Solvang ASA. The latter company is operating the newbuilding named Clipper Sky.

Ship particulars are 204.9m long, 32.2m wide and 20.2m deep with a draft of 12m. The 35,158gt, 44,617dwt LPG carrier has a service speed of 16.55 knots and is powered by an MAN B&W 5S60MC-C main diesel engine with an output of 11,275kW at 105 rpm.

The hull shape of Clipper Sky is based on Kawasaki?s SEA-Arrow design that incorporates a special bow design which reduces the water resistance and leads to an improvement in propulsion.
