Kleven clinches Sealion order

Sealion Shipping in England has, on behalf of Toisa Ltd, placed an order with the Kleven Verft Yard in Ulsteinvik, Norway, for the construction of a new, large IRM class, saturation diving support vessel. The vessel is based on a lengthened version of a design from Marin Teknikk who will be supplying a design and engineering package of the MT 6016L multipurpose dive and support vessel, developed in cooperation with owner and yard. She will be the first MT vessel for Sealion Shipping.

The contract value for the ship is above Nok 320 m ($48 m) and delivery is scheduled for December 2007. Designed to support world-wide diving and sub sea operations, the vessel will be 103.7 metres long, with at beam of 19.70 metres, and will have a work deck area aft of the dive section of 900 m2. The accommodation is for 100 persons and the vessel will be equipped with a high capacity crane, a saturation diving system and facilities for operation of ROVs.

The ship will be equipped with a fully integrated diesel electric propulsion system powering two Azipods and a drop-down azimuthing thruster giving a service speed of 15.5 knots.
