KNOT order strengthens Brunvolls position in DPST segment
DSME has ordered the thruster systems for the construction of two new 129,000 dwt Dynamic Positioning shuttle tankers for Knutsen NYK Offshore Tankers AS (KNOT), the second largest Shuttle Tanker operator in the world. The vessels are earmarked for use in the company’s operations at the Goliat oil field in the Barents Sea.
During loading and unloading operations, the vessels will use dynamic positioning (DP) with the help of two tunnel thrusters and three retractable azimuth thrusters totalling 10,500 kW. Brunvoll has just completed the delivery of similar thruster systems to two vessels ordered by the same shipping company built at Hyundai Heavy Industries’ shipyard in South Korea, and another pair at COSCO Zhoushan in China.
“This is a very valuable contract adding to several other deliveries to the same segment, again consolidates our position as the preferred partner for thruster systems for DP Shuttle Tankers for leading players with operations in the Northern Territories and in Brazilian waters,” said Per Olav Løkseth, Marketing Director at Brunvoll.
