Kobe Diesel to open new engine production facility

Kobe Diesel will start building works on a new marine diesel engine production facility on part of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries? (MHI) plant in Futami, Japan, for completion in April 2006.

It will invest $37M in the facility which will eventually allow the company to double its annual output from 400,000 hp to 800,000 hp, as well as providing better access to clients and improving delivery logistics. After completion of the new facility, the company intends to close its existing factories in Kobe and Nagasaki.
