Kongsberg Maritime has won orders, valued at approximately MNOK 100 (US$15.25 million), for automation and control systems for eight LNG carriers. The orders are for vessels to be built in South Korea by Samsung Heavy Industries and Hyundai Heavy Industries for international shipping lines, with delivery scheduled from early 2006 and to the end of 2007. Kongsberg Maritime continues to experience success with its targeted initiatives in automation and control systems for gas carriers and is keeping a close eye on the development of new principles for transporting LNG.

The new contracts are for vessels embodying new operating concepts. Four will feature direct drive diesels, while the other four will have hybrid diesel-electric propulsion systems.

“We are currently supplying systems for a total of 67 LNG carriers that are on order or under construction”, adds Marketing Director Tor Erik S?rensen
