Korean and Polish shipbuilders clinch new orders

Primorsk Shipping Corporation signed a contract with Hyundai Heavy Industries for two ice-classed 166,000DWT Suezmax tankers for delivery in 2007. Ship particulars are 285 metres long, 50 metres wide and a draught of 15 metres. These tankers will be built at HHI?s facilities in Ulsan and will be first vessels of this size in Primorsk?s fleet.

The Russian tanker company has previously placed a contract with HHI for three 100,000DWT Aframax tankers in addition to two 108,000DWT Aframaxes at Brodosplit Shipyard in Croatia. These five tankers will be used for the Sakhalin-I Project oil.

Meanwhile, Nokbong Shipbuilding in South Korea secured an order for two 18,000DWT chemical tankers from Lotus Shipping for delivery during 2007.

Far Eastern Shipping (Fesco) in Russia has placed an order for two 1,730TEU container ships with Stocznia Szczecinska Nowa in Poland for delivery in 2007. The contract includes an option for a sister ship.
