Lloyd Werft bags new cruise repair

Work on the 15,396gt Voyager is already underway. She arrived on Monday and will stay until April 14. Now serving with the UK’s All Leisure Holidays she was fitted with a bulbous bow at LWB in 2010.

During her latest 15 day stay in LWB’s big Kaiserdock 11 the 25 year old Voyager will undergo blasting and conservation, work on 14 ship tanks, inspection of sea-valves and a range of work on pipe and valve systems. In addition, components on the ship’s bow thruster tunnel will be renewed and lifeboats adapted to the latest IMO safety standards. LWB will also carry out class work, new hull bottom coating and give the ship a general spruce-up.

The 33 year old, 6,471gt polar expedition ship National Geographic Explorer arrives April 16^th and stays until the 30^th. Now owned by Lindblad Expeditions she is the converted former Hurtigruten Midnatsol and last visited LWB in 2013 and 2014.

She does not need to dock this time. After looking her over in Madeira LWB are already on board to begin preparations at sea for the work being undertaken in Bremerhaven.

LWB said she will berth at the outfitting quay where her central air conditioning plant and related chillers and pipe-work will be replaced. LWB will also manufacture and install a new boiler room and carry out an extensive programme of repairs and piping work as well as conversion of the ship’s portside access door.
