Low manpower design for Abu Dhabi tugs
The Al Fenci and Al Durrah have just been delivered by Grandweld Shipyards. The vessels are specially designed to assist in marine and harbour operation at Khalifa Port including escorting and towing, mooring and fire-fighting operations.
Particular attention has been paid to the crew comfort, with high levels of noise and vibration control. This is has been certified by ABS with the HAB notation for workboats.
On trials, the vessels met or exceeded all performance expectations: the forward bollard pull was measured at 55 tonnes, astern the vessel managed 50 tonnes. Free running speed ahead came to 13 knots, while in reverse the vessel clocked up 12 knots.
The 32m vessels have a beam of 12m, a maximum draft of 5m, and tanks for fuel oil (113,000 litres), fresh water (12,000 litres), foam (10,000 litres) plus tanks for sewage, oily water and sludge as well as tanks for other lubricants.
The Al Fenci and Al Durrah are classed and built according to American Bureau of Shipping notations: X A1 Towing Vessel (55T BP), X AMS, Unrestricted Navigation, Fi-Fi 1, QR, HAB + (WB).
