LR Group acquires ODS

A Lloyd?s Register Group company has acquired ?degaard & Danneskiold-Sams?e A/S (ODS), a Danish consultancy specialising in noise, vibration and machinery dynamics. The acquisition will build on the strengths of both organisations and will enable the Lloyd?s Register Group to offer the marine, rail and oil and gas industries a wider range of services designed to solve noise, vibration and machinery performance problems. ODS? capabilities will complement and strengthen those of Lloyd?s Register EMEA?s existing Technical Investigations department.

ODS is one of the world?s leading specialists in the field of noise and vibration, employing over 40 highly-qualified personnel who perform a wide range of noise, vibration and machinery dynamics measurements and analyses during plant acceptance and commissioning, sea trials and other stages of the asset lifecycle. ODS will be a wholly-owned subsidiary in the Lloyd?s Register Group, but will continue to operate as an independent specialist retaining its name and corporate identity.

In the marine field, ODS? well-established reputation in the mega-yacht and cruise ship sectors will complement Lloyd?s Register?s market-leading position in the classification of passenger ships. Lloyd?s Register and ODS also expect significant growth in demand for noise and vibration consultancy services in the container ship and LNG ship sectors.
