Machinery design contract for first LNG-powered icebreaker

Deltamarin, which has been involved in previous icebreaker designs for Arctech, says it will employ the AVEVA marine outfitting software package. The company’s design contract is valued at around €1.8 million, and the work is to be carried out over an estimated period of 12 months.

The dual-fuel vessel, to be built for the Finnish Transport Agency, has been planned to operate under challenging icebreaking conditions in the Baltic Sea. It will additionally be equipped for oil spill response and emergency towing.
