MaK and DNV GL collaborate on condition monitoring

DNV GL’s ‘machinery condition monitoring’ survey arrangement enables owners to avoid unnecessary open-up inspections of machinery, provided the condition monitoring system used and machinery arrangement meet requirements. Owners can save further by choosing a pre-approved system and arrangement rather than having to pay for case-by-case approvals.

CMAI’s analytics allow MaK users to validate equipment condition and identify potential issues before failure. The system reduces reliance on a planned maintenance schedule and minimises the operational and maintenance costs associated with unexpected failures.

A vessel powered by the new MaK M 46 DF dual-fuel engine will be the first of Caterpillar’s customers to receive DNV GL’s machinery condition monitoring survey arrangement.
