MAN GenSet sales success
“Since its first entry to the market two decades ago, the L16/24 has regularly been updated and kept pace with modern demands, said Mikael C Jensen, vice president and head of engineering for the Low-Speed business unit, MAN Diesel & Turbo.
“The Mk. 2 package with valve guide arrangement has been standard for a couple of years for new buildings, and is also now offered as retrofit package. A sales total of 3,000 units is a remarkable achievement in a tough market, and we will continue to develop the engine so it remains competitive in the years to come,” he added.
The HFO powered engine, which has a power range of 450kW to 990kW, has been employed on a number of vessels, including bulk carriers, tankers, general cargo vessels, container vessels and cruise ships.
