Marieke christened

DEME?s latest trailing suction hopper dredger was christened in the port of Zwijndrecht, Belgium. Named ?Marieke?, the newbuilding was delivered by IHC Holland Dredgers BV on 28 July.

The 5,600 m³ Marieke is an enlarged version of the highly successful 5,400 m³ trailing suction hopper dredger ?Pallieter? which was built at IHC Holland for the Belgian dredging company DEME in 2004. The twin srew newbuilding has a carrying capacity of 8,362 tonnes with a draught of 7.10 metres.

A sistership to be named ?Reynaert? will be delivered early November this year.
