Marin Teknikk design for US subsea vessels

Under the contract, Marin Teknikk will design and engineer the new vessel which will be used in the US section of the Gulf of Mexico. This means the vessel must be constructed in the United States and so will be built at the owner’s private shipyard, Candies Shipbuilders.

The MT6020 ship design is a new design from Marin Teknikk and is a continuation of the pervious MT6016 series. The new vessel will have a length of 102m and a width of 20.6m. Its large construction deck will be equipped with a 150 tonne offshore crane, creating an accessible working platform. It will also be equipped with two ROVs (unmanned submarines) that can operate down to 3000m.

The vessel, which can accommodate up to 90 people, has been designed according to the latest regulations of the Code of Safety for Special Purpose Ships (SPS) in terms of stability, security and emissions of pollutants.

The agreement includes an option for a second slightly larger vessel, an MT6022 design, measuring 108m in length with a beam of 22m and designed to accommodate 110 people.
