Marine direct-dial service launched

EAE has launched a global maritime communications system, which it says offers an alternative to existing satellite communications services.

Applications available include e-mail, direct-dial telephone, fax, payphones and data transmission. The system can also be used for video conferencing and internet access, says EAE.

Vessel telecommunications costs year-on-year can be fixed, and billing is calculated by the usage of the various services contracted. The company says it is backing up the network with a 24-hour management and support service and will update clients on their system`s performance via its system and network data base.

The company has also developed C- and Ku-band VSAT terminals for use with the service.

The series is available with a choice of 12.5 or 25kW X-band and 30kW S-band transceivers.
