Maritime Progress produces multi language posters

Maritime Progress' multi language posters provide information for crew members

Over the years, Maritime Progress has made a rising number of safety awareness and training posters from its ISM SafetyWORKS range available in languages other than English.

Captain Andy Goldsmith, marine technical manager, Maritime Progress, said: “Posters are used to demonstrate managements’ awareness of safety and environmental issues and their concern to educate. They stress the advice and requirements of the responsible authorities and point to where more detailed information can be obtained. The continued development of continental offshore oil and gas fields in areas such as South and Central America and Africa has highlighted the need for safety instruction posters in appropriate languages other than English. It is essential that ship owners, managers and captains can get their message across and keep crew members and sub-contractors, whose first language is not English, fully informed.”

Although, in some cases, posters containing more than one language can lead to the reduction of the print size, leaving them difficult to read, brief instructional notices, which have limited text and rely heavily on pictures and graphics, can easily include a dual language format without the loss of any essential information.
