Masson-Marine joins ZF
Masson of France, a manufacturer of drive and reduction gear systems for workboats, has become Masson-Marine, regaining its independence, and with its directors fully back in control. For nearly a century, Masson has developed and manufactured drive systems for workboats (fishing boats, tugs, off-shore vessels, tankers, cargo ships, barges, dredgers, etc.). Masson introduced many innovations to the sector, such as large-capacity multi-output power take-off; propeller brakes that are either integrated into the reduction gear or else external; two-inlet/one-outlet reduction gears; and adaptations for variable pitch propellers.
Using its strategic alliances, Masson-Marine has the resources to offer propulsion packages combining reduction gears and variable pitch propellers with power ranging from 100kW to 10,000kW. These packages enable users to cut their fuel consumption by up to 30%.
As part of its business development strategy, Masson-Marine benefits from the backing of the German-based ZF group and is also building up its own sales and service distribution network.
