Merwede wins Helix vessel
Merwede Shipyard, a subsidiary of IHC Holland Merwede BV, has received a contract for the design and construction of a new well intervention / diving support / offshore construction vessel for Helix Energy Solutions.
This vessel will be the second to be built at the newly commissioned fourth slipway of the Group in Krimpen aan den Ijssel, Netherlands. Merwede Shipyard was granted this order because of its ability to design and offer the vessel including the integration of the complete well intervention plant, dive spread and ROV spread within the required short delivery time and for a fixed price.
The 131.70 metre, 7,950 DWT newbuilding will be built under yard No 715 and delivery will take place end 2008. The vessel is designed to support subsea well intervention, including coil tubing, electric line and slick line intervention activities. The introduction of this new vessel will provide Helix Energy Solutions? subsidiary Well Ops UK Ltd with another versatile vessel.
