The five Solstice Class ships have been built in seven years

and

Meyer said all had been delivered on schedule

and

in some cases earlier than planned. Pointing up the economic impact of the overall 614,000gt order, Meyer added it had provided about 5,000 jobs locally

and

as many as 21,000 in equipment firms throughout Germany. Among other things, 20 main engines, ten Azipods, 13.000km of cable, 1.600 tons of paint

and

five complete theatres were supplied, the yard said.

The engine configuration on Celebrity Reflection differs from those of all of her predecessors. Meyer’s Guenther Kolbe told The Motorship she had been fitted with four MAN engines – two 14V

and

two 12V CR units of 16,800kW

and

14,400kW respectively as well as Diesel-electric azimuthing pods. Total engine output was put at 62,400kW

and

propulsive power at 35,000kW, for a speed of 23knots.

Kolbe said it had been possible to install smaller engines on the latest ship “because of the considerable energy savings” made on her. All the ships in the series are billed as particularly eco-friendly

and

energy-efficient. The latest ship has photo-voltaic solar power generation

and

heat-saving installations as well as LED lighting.

The first three ships in the series –

Solstice, Equinox

and

Eclipse – each carried four Wärtsilä 16V46 Diesels

and

two ABB Azipods while the fourth – Celebrity Silhoette – was fitted with four MAN 14V48/60CR Diesels

and

two ABB Azipods.
