Milestone reached for monitoring service

The company’s Computerised Analysis of Ship PERformance (CASPER) measures ship performance from hull and propeller fouling with a clean, smooth hull and propeller from sea trials. The service produces accurate figures for speed and fuel consumption for oil tankers, gas tankers, bulkers, container ships and general cargo vessels.

With the IMO’s Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP) regulation soon to be mandatory for all ships over 400 gt, demands for the CASPER service have increased.

Christian Brobeck, managing director, Propulsion Dynamics, said: “CASPER is perfect fit for SEEMP. By creating a thorough implementation of measures, and continual improvements of technical fuel efficiency, the Return On Investment (ROI) is straightforward.”

Propulsion Dynamics has doubled its office space in Europe and has employed two more naval architects to keep up with service demands.

Chemical transportation company, Eitzen, has used the CASPER service since 2008 and has also implemented the CASPER+Trim – a trim tool based on the physical model of the vessel which provides ideal trim for any speed, weather and loading.
