MOL invests in Taiwanese wind farm
CI Fengmiao holds full ownership of the Feng Miao Offshore Wind Farm, a 495-megawatt project under development in Taiwan.
The ¥25 billion (€153 million) investment marks MOL’s second venture into Taiwan’s offshore wind sector, following its earlier involvement in the Formosa I Offshore Wind Farm. With this new stake, MOL aims to gain hands-on experience by participating in the project from the construction phase, which began in March 2025 and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027.
The Feng Miao wind farm will generate enough electricity to power approximately 650,000 Taiwanese households. All of its output has been secured under long-term power purchase agreements with a consortium of six major local and international companies, including Google and United Microelectronics Corporation.
As part of the project, MOL will dispatch personnel to participate in construction and operations, as well as supply vessels to support the building and maintenance of the facility. This strategic involvement is designed to enhance MOL’s expertise in renewable energy and contribute to global decarbonisation efforts.
The company emphasised that its growing role in offshore wind aligns with its broader strategy to expand its presence in clean energy and contribute to a sustainable future.
