Motorship Propulsion & Emissions Conference
Entitled ‘Keeping an eye on 2020’, the conference programme will also see ship owners, operators and managers giving their initial feedback on working with the newly enforced regulations plus an operators session outlining the reasons for their choice of compliance with the sulphur regulations. In the chair will be Lars Robert Pedersen, deputy secretary general, BIMCO.
Arsenio Dominguez, chairman of IMO’s Marine Environment Protection Committee, will be the first keynote speaker focusing on the recently introduced ECA 0.1% regulations. Joining him will be Nikolaus Von Peter, Cabinet Member, Transport Cabinet, European Commission and Tor Øyvind Ask of the Trident Alliance, a recently formed group of some 40 plus shipowners who are aiming to pursue a range of different solution strategies to bring about robust and transparent enforcement of the existing and forthcoming emission regulations.
Some hot topics on the conference agenda include a presentation by Niels Bjørn L Mortensen, director, regulatory affairs, Maersk Maritime Technology, who will talk about the reasons behind Maersk’s decision to use fuel switching, whilst Tor Øyvind Ask, Fleet Director, Solvang ASA, will present the case to use scrubbers.
Other speaker highlights will include the 2015 ECA Fuel Regulations: Ensuring Fuel Stability and Compatibility by Armelle Brenoel, EAME marine logistics advisor, ExxonMobil and Compliance and change-over procedures when switching fuels by Joachim Milius, senior approval engineer system technology, DNVGL.
The conference will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, 4 to 5 March 2015 at the Hotel Atlantic Kempinski, Hamburg, Germany.
