NACKS delivers Guangzhou Highway

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (“K” Line) has taken delivery of ?Guangzhou Highway?, a 48,927 gt PCTC with a 5,000 car capacity completed at Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (NACKS).

This is the last in a 3-ship series of carriers that are the first units in the current fleet with environmentally-friendly electronic-controlled engine in the shape of a Kawasaki MAN B&W 7S60ME-C two-stroke diesel. The first ship in this series, ?Shanghai Highway?, entered service in August 2005, followed by the ?Tianjin Highway? in November 2005, both of which have performed well.

Following the same pattern as in the two previous ships, K Line adopted new hull structure and equipment while, on this latest newbuilding, additional arrangements were made to install low-sulfur fuel and bunker oil tanks in compliance with MARPOL.
