Nakashima opens new propeller plant

Japan’s largest marine propeller manufacturer, Nakashima Propeller, has officially unveiled plans to build a new production facility on a 58,000 m2 site which will be capable of manufacturing propellers up to 12m in diameter and up to 150 tonnes in weight.

Construction of the new Tamashima factory, located in Okayama Prefecture, should be completed by August next year, with production commencing before 2006. Approximately 100 workers will be employed at the new site which will concentrate on propellers for ships over 40,000dwt. Production will continue at Nakashima?s existing plant for the foreseeable future.
