New Chinese service base for Rolls-Royce

The new facility in Guangzhou joins those already in operation in Hong Kong, Dalian and Shanghai. It is located in proximity to the commercial port and ship repair yards, and includes a maintenance workshop and offices for a small team of service engineers and customer support personnel.

The facility will serve customers in the commercial and offshore sectors and can repair and overhaul a range of equipment, including diesel engine components, tunnel thrusters, and propellers. Engineers will also carry out onboard servicing and repairs on board vessels and can conduct essential maintenance underwater, minimising the need for dry docking.

This modern facility in the heart of Guangzhou’s Pearl River Delta, one of the busiest locations in the region for shipbuilding and repair, enables us to better meet the needs of our marine customers in the region. Our global marine service network helps ship owners maximise vessel availability by providing them with highly skilled service engineers and maintenance facilities through long-term service and maintenance contracts.”

The Guangzhou service facility marks the latest stage in the company’s strategy to implement a global marine service centre network, offering round-the-clock repair services in 28 countries. In the last three years, Rolls-Royce has created or expanded service centres in 13 different locations.
