New cruise ships get energy efficient HVAC systems

In addition, an option has been agreed to provide HVAC technology on board two more cruise ships.

At 143,500gt the new vessels are the largest cruise ships ever built in Germany. The capacity of each ship totals more than 4,000 passengers. Imtech Marine is responsible for the HVAC technology (all the technical solutions related to heating, ventilating and air conditioning) and will place particular emphasis on energy efficiency as well as on ensuring maximum passenger comfort. NCL’s next-generation ‘Freestyle Cruising’ concept is being applied for the first time on both ships. This means that individual passengers can structure the experience of ‘cruising’ based on their own ideas and preferences. Whether chic or sport-centric, active or passive, culinary or cultural: everything is possible. The newbuildings will be delivered to NCL in the spring of 2013 and 2014.
